In early June, the crepe myrtles at Sainte Terre come into full white bloom. For about three weeks every year, they form a canopy of white over the path between The Stone Barn and The Stables. Amari and her bridesmaids stood under that canopy in a strapless ivory lace gown and twelve floor-length black ones — and the contrast worked the way contrast always works ...when it's done with intention. The bouquets matched the moment: white hydrangea, anthurium, trailing amaranthus in soft green. No filler. No pastel. Black, white, and green — held against the white of the blooms overhead. Trucker hats stacked in baskets at the door. Personalized cups handed out at the bar. A trolley leaving the property packed with the entire wedding party for one of those photos that nobody planning a wedding ever forgets to keep. Haley got ready with her bridesmaids in plisse pajamas — orange, hot pink, dusty blue, lavender, sage, royal blue, ivory. Hillary hung an orange and yellow fringed lamp installation over the dance floor under a canopy of greenery and roses.
