Julie and Ham were married in September 2026 at The Stone Barn, in the white chapel with the wooden pews, at five o'clock.
Julie grew the ferns herself. Forty of them, grown and babied until the day they were needed. They stood either side of the welcome sign, flanked the altar, and hung over the basket of photo fans at the chapel door. Everywhere we could find a place ofr them, they were there!
Leanne built everything else to belong with them. Very natural greenery and foliage — monstera, fern, painted caladium leaves, scabiosa pods, white delphinium and wax flower — in tall arrangements down the aisle, low ones on the tables, and all the way down to Julie's own bouquet. The palette was shades of taupe and olive green: taupe, sand and mossy green, with gold at the edges. The bridesmaids wore mismatched taupe, sand and champagne. The rings even sat in a moss velvet box.
Julie's gown was off the shoulder, with full sheer sleeves gathered at the wrist. The entire wedding was gluten-free. Jeanne made a cookie cake — tiers of gluten-free cookie layered with frosting and finished with caladium leaves. Gluten-free brownies. A gluten-free dinner. You would never have known.
And they skipped most of the traditions on purpose. No cake cutting. No bouquet or garter toss. No staged exit. They wanted to enjoy the night with their people, without anything on the schedule pulling them off the dance floor. So that is where they stayed.
