The Only Green in the Room …Was the Groom's Cake — Makayla & Latrell
Makayla and Latrell were married in June at The Stone Barn. They said their vows in The Sanctuary at 5:30 in the evening — the open-air chapel out in the pines — It was June in Louisiana. Every guest had a fan.
The brief Makayla gave us was four words long: black, white, gold, and very little greenery. Everything came from that. White and off-white florals, roses and baby's breath, with texture doing the work that color usually does. Black glass and gold down the tables. Six bridesmaids in black. Boutonnieres wrapped in black.
Which left exactly one green thing at the entire wedding, and Latrell picked it himself: a two-tier groom's cake iced like a putting green, with a golf ball on top and a cart parked on the second tier.
Makayla's gown was In Bianco, the private label at Fabulous Frocks Shreveport — fitted white satin, off the shoulder — with a cathedral veil trimmed in lace that ran twelve feet down the path behind her. Those fans made it from the flat lay, to the ceremony chairs, to over a guest's head on the dance floor at the end of the night. It was a wedding well done - with the friends a family to prove it.
