He Sang to Her Through the First Dance — Tayah & Josh

Tayah and Josh were married in April 2026 at The Stone Barn. They said their vows at half past five in The Sanctuary, the open-air timber chapel out in the pines, with white roses on the cross behind them and the people who have been there through it all filling the chairs.

Earlier that afternoon they stood back to back under the crepe myrtles and read each other's vows without turning around. Both of them were wiping their eyes before they got to the end. Inside, her girls had already crowded into a doorway for their own sneak peek, and not all of them made it through dry.

The palette was black, white and olive green, and the green is what made it theirs. Not one shade but seven — the women standing with her each wore their own, from sage and mint to emerald and olive, and lined up under the timbers they looked like the pines behind them.

The florals stayed all white — ranunculus, roses, hydrangea and stock — with green amaranthus trailing out of every bouquet. Black did the rest: centerpieces in black footed bowls with black votives on white linen, black tapers and black velvet chairs at the sweetheart table, and Josh in a white dinner jacket with a black bow tie.

At the reception he sang to her through the whole first dance, with her white sunglasses pushed up into her hair. Later she changed into something short and sparkly and a pair of white sneakers for the dancing.

Dessert was a homemade pie bar, and our own Holly made it herself: blackberry crumble, chocolate ganache under whipped cream, and double chocolate brownie pies.

It's all the small moments of the day you built that add up to the meaning you remember long after.
